PIN Code

PIN Code stands for Postal Index Number used by the Indian Postal Department, Ministry of Communications. It is also known as the Zip code or postal code of the Indian region. This Postal Index Number (PIN) was introduced by Shriram Bhikaji Velankar on 15 August 1972 as an additional secretary in the Union Ministry of Communications. This system was introduced to make an easy process of sorting & delivery of mails to overcome confusion caused by similar name places on geographical surfaces.
